Using the Catholic Planner | Sunday Mass Readings
Posted on 15 February 2019
In your Catholic Planner you'll find that each week begins with a Weekly Retreat. This section is here to prepare you for the week ahead and ground you in your goals.
In the upper left hand corner of the Weekly Retreat you’ll find the Sunday Mass Readings. Every week you’ll be given the readings for that Sunday’s mass. We encourage you to find time to take out your bible and read the passages given. This way you’ll always be prepared for mass. You'll really be able to focus on your priest's homily if you take a moment to familiarize yourself with the readings before coming to church. It will only take a few minutes, but it's a simple task that can make a big difference come Sunday morning.
Sunday Mass is at the heart of the Church’s life. There we encounter the Risen Lord, we listen to His Word, we are nourished at His table, and thus we become Church. #sundaymass— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) November 4, 2018
Not only is this section a great preparation tool, but it also serves as a good reference as you go through your week. When we take the time to reflect on God's word, we find it easy to recognize it reflected in our own lives. Sometimes we just need a reminder as we go through our busy schedules. Should you be called to look back or reflect on that Sunday's gospel reading, you'll easily be able to locate the passages in your Catholic Planner!
